In this BSA series – “Why AI?” – enterprise software leaders explain in their own words how artificial intelligence (AI) is having a positive impact on individuals, businesses, and organizations worldwide. In this submission, HubSpot’s Chief Legal Officer Alyssa Harvey Dawson writes about how HubSpot AI can be leveraged to improve efficiency and save time for teams of all sizes.

1. Why AI?

HubSpot AI follows the path that HubSpot has been on since its inception. We recognized the monumental potential that AI has to help businesses connect and grow better. Our easy-to-use AI tools are seamlessly integrated throughout HubSpot’s customer platform.

Our AI-powered tools boost productivity to help small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) work smarter, faster, and ultimately drive more revenue. They increase efficiency and effectiveness across the front office, eliminating repetitive tasks that once took time, money, and deep expertise. Marketers and sellers can now generate ideas, content, and insights in seconds, helping teams personalize campaigns and strengthen their connection with customers.

Since these tools are going to be such an important factor for our customers, we know that how we develop them is critically important. At HubSpot, we’re committed to ethical innovation and responsible use of AI. HubSpot’s privacy, security, legal, and customer trust teams work closely with our product and engineering teams in developing AI products. We work together to ensure HubSpot’s AI product development and decision-making aligns with our core values and commitments to our customers, partners, and communities.

2. Can you give an example?

We’re a customer-centric company that listens, invests, and solves for customers. We believe the best way to drive value for the customer is to deliver a product quickly, and iterate often. HubSpot’s AI Assistant, which was one of the first AI tools we launched, is an example of HubSpot moving quickly to put our product in the hands of customers.

In marketing, our customers are using AI Assistant for content creation. With this tool, they can highlight the content they want to modify directly in the editor, and use AI commands to quickly summarize, expand on, or apply a different tone of voice. We’re seeing customers use this feature across blogging, social media, and web pages. It not only saves time, but also helps inspire them when drafting content.

On the Customer Success side, we’ve recently seen an uptick in customers using AI Assistant to scale their support efforts while keeping their teams small. Specifically, they’re using the Summarize Conversation functionality to document key insights from customer calls for smoother handoffs and next steps. They’re also using AI text commands in the Inbox editor to save time and answer support queries faster.

We have much more to learn and we’re excited to keep seeing what is (and isn’t!) driving real value to customers with AI.

3. Where can we learn more?

HubSpot AI is built to supercharge the front office. We have made resources available to show how our AI offerings can drive growth and efficiency.

  • We think our AI tools unlock growth potential and talk about that on our HubSpot AI Page.
  • HubSpot’s AI Ethics Policy is about our approach to ethical and responsible AI in AI product development.
  • The HubSpot AI walkthrough and customer stories are a great, hands-on way to see what the tools offer: HubSpot AI-specific YouTube videos.
  • We also have a course – AI for Marketers through HubSpot Academy – that talks about taking your marketing strategies to new heights with AI. From optimizing content creation to gaining predictive insights, the course is intended to help marketers learn how to use AI ethically and responsibly in their marketing efforts.
