BSA | The Software Alliance joined House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Chairman Sam Graves on Capitol Hill to lead a conversation on “Digital Tools for the Construction Sector” before a room full of congressional staff.

Graves, BSA CEO Victoria Espinel, and business leaders from Autodesk, Bentley Systems, and AECOM gathered for an hour-long discussion about the digital transformation in construction in the committee’s historic hearing room.

“I was happy to host BSA | The Software Alliance and their members and partners in the construction industry to talk about how digital tools and software are transforming construction and infrastructure. There are tremendous opportunities available to deliver infrastructure projects more safely and efficiently thanks to digital tools in construction, and I was glad to help convene an important discussion on this topic.”

“BSA | The Software Alliance represents the enterprise tech industry, helping businesses of all sizes transform using digital tools,” Espinel told the crowd of Capitol Hill staff, BSA members, and cross-sector partners in attendance. “This is why BSA launched the Digital Transformation Network – to bring together the world’s top software companies with leaders from other sectors.”

The audience had a chance to hear from a series of industry leaders who represent the software and construction customer part of the industry. All three panelists – AECOM VP and Global Transportation Innovation Lead Amy Ford, Autodesk SVP & General Manager of Construction Solutions Jim Lynch, and Bentley Systems Vice President Jeremy Shaffer – spoke to the critical role that digital tools play in delivering and managing projects more efficiently and more safely. The panel was led in conversation by BSA Senior Director of Legislative Strategy Danielle Brown.

BSA recently released a report highlighting the role of digital transportation in construction, available here. BSA will lead another industry discussion around cybersecurity in the construction sector on March 15 at CONEXPO in Las Vegas, more information here.
