Creating Jobs and Expanding Opportunity: BSA’s 2021 Policy Agenda

Over the course of the last year, COVID-19 highlighted the indispensable nature of software. For many Americans it unlocked and expanded the ability to work, learn, and connect remotely in the midst of lockdowns and social-distancing measures. But the pandemic has also further highlighted gaps in digital access and the opportunities it provides. As the US government works to respond to and recover from the pandemic, BSA and our member companies are eager to work with Congress and the Administration to modernize laws and policies in order to spread the benefits of technology and support job growth.

BSA’s new policy agenda outlines nine concrete, bipartisan proposals that policymakers can implement to ensure that all Americans can access the opportunities that software and digital services provide. Our agenda goes beyond responding to COVID-19 and includes suggestions to strengthen data privacy, cybersecurity, digital trade, trustworthy AI development, and more.

We are looking forward to working with the new Congress and Administration on policies that will promote equity, expand opportunity, and bolster recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. To read the full 2021 US Policy Agenda, click here.
