1. Why AI?
AI will massively augment human intelligence and unlock productivity gains when used responsibly. In the world of cybersecurity, one of the most pressing issues Rubrik sees organizations facing is the shortage of experienced cybersecurity talent available – especially within organizations like healthcare and education. That’s one of the reasons why Rubrik has been focused on the power of AI and the positive impacts and efficiencies it can deliver. Rubrik solutions are designed to bring in situational knowledge and recommendations at the right time to address cyber incidents, enabling organizations to more effectively fight back against sophisticated threat actors. And importantly, this allows organizations to get maximum output from their current workforce and lean on advanced technology to produce more.
2. Can you give an example?
One example could be a major healthcare provider leveraging AI within their infosecurity and IT organization to investigate an alert of potential malicious activity, such as mass data deletion. Without AI, once an alert comes in via their security tools, typically a security expert relies on their knowledge of patterns of attackers and their specific organization’s cybersecurity playbook to investigate the alert and see if it’s indicative of a broader breach or compromise of systems. This can take hours, days, or even weeks and requires combining knowledge of their internal IT systems, common attack vectors, and following breadcrumbs through the system.
With AI, the steps needed to be taken can be automatically generated, greatly reducing the amount of time required to investigate an attack. Additionally, the use of AI means that you may not need as much specialized talent on staff. This can significantly reduce the scope and impact of attacks that can bring down critical services such as healthcare, where a minute of downtime can have a serious impact on life-or-death scenarios
